Pakiri Beach

Pakiri Regional Park is situated  90 kilometres north of Auckland, and features one of Auckland's finest beaches.

Pakiri Beach is 10 kilometres from Leigh and the popular diving and snorkelling site of Goat Island Marine Reserve.  A part sealed and part unsealed road (5 kilometres of road is unsealed) leads to the white sands of the stunning beach.

Just past the Top 10 Holiday Park, is a small car park with changing rooms and toliet facilities, along with a few information panels that provide an overview on the protected birdlife that resides in the regional park.  A short pathway leads onto the beach.

The beach itself is a real 'hidden gem' off the tourist trail. It's a one kilometre stretch of soft white sand, with a shoreline of sand dunes, pohutukawa trees and some grassland where you might spot the occasional cow grazing.

The elevated hinterland provides panoramic views of the Pākiri coastline and the northern Hauraki Gulf.  There are are parts of the steep terrain that's being planted with native vegetation in order to help stabilise the land.

A family friendly spot, great for paddling and swimming, there's also the opportunity of horse trekking along the beach with Pakiri Beach Horse Rides.
